Why We Walk for FPS

A cancer diagnosis turns the world upside down. It not only affects the patient, but also affects the caregiver and the children of the patient. The anxiety and fear of the unknown can isolate, create stress and cause emotional and financial havoc.

A strong sense of community can ease the psycho-social impact of a devastating diagnosis. FPS helps bring community to the forefront and gives families the chance to take a break from cancer. After the respite, FPS continues to provide priceless emotional support as we partner with community members and our families to create small “mini breaks” throughout the year.

Regionally, we budgeted to provide respites and related emotional support to 190 families this fiscal year (ending on June 30, 2020). Since 1999, nearly 1,700 families have traveled with FPS. Uplifting more than 800 people yearly, we offer nearly 200 respites annually and provide related emotional support to patients, caregivers and kids in our program.

In honor of our 20th anniversary of For Pete's Sake and the 10th Annual For Pete's Sake, Walk! Philly, we need you to walk beside us and the hundreds of people impacted by our mission each year. Your participation and related fundraising will help us reach our goal! Let's make this year the best one yet!
